Despite its shortcomings, Sarileru Neekevvaru is an enjoyable ride, but it’s not for everyone. Whether Sarileru Neekevvaru is a blockbuster or a dud depends on you. The movie’s director Anil Ravipudi has infused comedy in the film. He also tries to weave two storylines into the narrative. Unfortunately, the bloated narrative doesn’t hold together and is too repetitive.
The plot is a typical commercial entertainer. A soldier is sent to inform the family of a martyr that he’s been killed. In the meantime, the Army officer tries to slay the corrupts. The film has a few moments of good performances from the cast. But, the film could have been much more entertaining if Anil had concentrated on his screenplay.
The movie also features Vijayashanthi, who plays the mother of two soldiers who have been killed in action. She has a strong role and has moments of glory. She could have been the author’s backed character but she isn’t. The script has the best punchlines for her.
In the film, Mahesh Babu plays the role of a patriot and a protector. He does a great job at portraying the character. His performance varies from comic to serious. However, he switches between the two easily.
